So many, perhaps, have never been, not even in 2017 when the world of cruises "discovered" Cagliari and the city boomed. In fact, if the forecasts are confirmed, 2024 will be the boom year for cruise tourism : over 500 thousand passengers will arrive in the city (and 153 stopovers).

Costa will lead the market, but the return of MSC after three years is to be noted (first stop already on 18 December). «Analysts had predicted that 2023 would be a year of consolidation of pre-Covid numbers, but instead we went further with 390 thousand passengers. And if the forecasts are respected, 2024 will be even better ", says Massimo Deiana , president of the ADSP del Mare di Sardegna, with satisfaction. «The cruise sector is a sector in turmoil», underlines Raffaella Del Prete, general manager of Global ports Italy (which includes Cagliari Cruise Port).

From December to April 2024, MSC has already scheduled 17 landings . «The city believes a lot in the cruise tourism sector», says the municipal tourism councilor Alessandro Sorgia. «For the return of MSC, on December 18th, we organized a party with traditional Sardinian costumes, dances and tastings of typical local products».
