He fell ill during a 7-a-side football match, collapsing in front of the frightened gaze of his friends. A 36-year-old was saved by the prompt intervention of the staff of the Oxygen sports facility, in viale Cimitero, in Cagliari : cardiac massage and the use of the defibrillator avoided the worst. Then the sportsman was rescued by the 118 staff and accompanied to the hospital in an ambulance for all the necessary medical checks.

First aid

The incident took place on Tuesday night around 10.30pm. When the 36-year-old fell ill, his companions immediately sounded the alarm. The call to 118 and the reporting to the staff who manage the sports facility made it possible to prevent the tragedy from taking place. Above all, the readiness of those who were in the sports facility at that moment allowed the sportsman to be saved. Those who manage the camps have attended first aid courses and obviously know how to use the defibrillator that is present in the facility. So the cardiac massage, at first, with the subsequent use of the "AED", the semi-automatic defibrillator, managed to stabilize the 36-year-old until the immediate arrival of the 118 rescuers.

In the hospital

Then the patient's transfer to the Monserrato hospital on board an ambulance, then subjected to all the necessary tests and kept under close observation. What happened shows the importance of knowing how to perform cardiac massage and use a defibrillator.
