The Carabinieri of the San Bartolomeo station in Cagliari have arrested a 33-year-old unemployed man from Quartu Sant'Elena, already known to the police, for attempted aggravated theft.

The military intervened in via La Palma, where the owner of a construction company had reported the presence of a suspicious person inside a construction site managed by his company.

Once on site, the police surprised the intruder while he was placing the stolen goods inside some supermarket bags.

At the sight of the soldiers, the man tried to escape, first on foot and then on a bicycle, abandoning the stolen goods. But he was soon reached, near the via La Palma bridge, and arrested.

After identification, at the disposal of the judicial authority, the 33-year-old was then placed under house arrest, awaiting immediate trial.
