It can land in any type of terrain, reaches 240 kilometers per hour and has the best safety systems for flying. It is the new AW169 helicopter of the Carabinieri and the Cagliari unit is the first to have it operational throughout Italy. This morning, at the Elmas airport base , there was the inauguration and blessing by the carabinieri chaplain.

«On board – highlights Andrea Sarica, commander of the Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Cagliari – there will be a crew of three people and will be able to transport eight people. Its ability to quickly reach even long distances and be able to land in any type of terrain allows for maximum operation." A latest generation five-bladed helicopter with the most important flight safety systems built by the Italian company Leonardo: cost 14 million euros.

«It will be available to the territorial and special departments for the various services: control of the territory, repression of environmental crimes, theft of archaeological finds, combating the cultivation of Indian hemp as well as searching for missing persons. But also for special operations such as in cases of assaults on armored vehicles", adds the general of the Sardinia Legion, Stefano Iasson.
