From Nuoro, Confindustria Sardegna Centrale expresses "very strong concern for the outbreaks of nodular bovine dermatitis, a virus that is affecting some farms in the area with significant impacts on companies in the entire beef supply chain".
In a note, the trade association declared itself satisfied with "the timely action of the Region and Ministry that moved immediately to address the spread of the disease. Now, however, it is important not to lower our guard in this very delicate phase and to act promptly to avert the risk that the LSD virus spreads, bringing the many livestock and processing companies linked to the supply chain to their knees".
According to Confindustria, selective culling, compensation and vaccinations are the way forward . The time factor will be decisive for the fate of the sector and the timeliness and speed in implementing these solutions will make the difference. The establishment of a permanent table at the Prefecture to follow the evolution of the emergency in a coordinated manner has also been requested.
