In the last decade, computer crimes reported by the police forces to the judicial authorities in Sardinia have almost doubled ( + 89.2% ). Increased at a rate of 10.1% per year, they place the island in sixth place in Italy where, on average, between 2010 and 2020, computer scams and frauds rose by 72.8%.

The unenviable ranking sees Veneto in first place (+ 110.2%), followed by Sicily (+ 102.9%) and Umbria (+ 102.3%).

"The war in Ukraine - says Fabio Mereu , vice president of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna and delegate for Technological Innovation - has highlighted how one of the characteristics of the new hybrid conflicts is that of cyber attacks . To grasp the positioning of companies in relation to IT security, the Studies Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna examined the data of the latest Istat survey on the situation and prospects of companies after the health emergency , in which the trends of 9 key factors in the digital transformation of companies and the shares of companies that have indicated them as very important or crucial.

Companies show a growing awareness of the risks of digitization and pay a lot of attention to security, in terms of preventing attacks and any data recovery actions, with 42.1% of micro and small businesses (MPIs) considering it very important or crucial.

The share is 44.8% in the commercial MPIs, 41.1% in manufacturing, 39.6% for other services and 37.2% for construction. And precisely to build an island digital society that protects the business economy from cyber attacks and that is, at the same time, smarter and capable of reducing energy costs, the Region, with three million euros financed the SharD -HUB , the digital innovation hub led by Sardegna Ricerche.

This project, which also includes Confartigianato Sud Sardegna, was presented to the European Commission after passing the Italian selection to become one of the poles of the European network for digital innovation and thus create a virtual bridge between Sardinia and the rest of the world.
