Sardinia also reconfirms for 2024 the 1 5 locations with top beaches that will be able to boast the Blue Flag , a prestigious recognition synonymous with excellent locations awarded in the 38th edition by the NGO Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
Here are the 15 Sardinian municipalities awarded: Badesi with the beaches of Li Junchi, Li Mindi, Baia delle Mimose-Pirotto Li Frati, Lu Poltu Biancu; Castelsardo (Sacred Heart / Ampurias, Madonnina / Stella Maris, Ex Palazzo Americani); Sorso (Marina Beach, Marina di Sorso); Sassari (Porto Ferro, Porto Palmas, Platamona Rotonda); Santa Teresa Gallura (Rena Ponente Capo Testa, Rena Bianca, Zia Culumba Capo Testa, Rena di Levante, La Taltana – Santa Reparata, Conca Verde); Aglientu (Vignola Mare, Rena Majore, Lu Chiscinagghju); Trinità d'Agultu and Vignola (La Marinedda, Cala Sarraina, Spiaggia Lunga Isola Rossa); La Maddalena with Tegge, Monti D'a Rena, Bassa Trinità, Porto Lungo, Spalmatore, Caprera Relitto, Caprera Due Mari; Palau (Palau Vecchio, Isolotto) Budoni (Bay of Budoni). Oristano with Torregrande; Tortolì (Lido di Cea, Lido di Orrì, Muxì Il Golfetto, Orrì Foxilioni, Ponente, Porto Frailis, San Gemiliano); Bari Sardo with Bucca 'e Strumpu/Torre di Barì/Sa Marina. Quartu Sant'Elena with Mare Pintau; Saint Antiochus with Maladroxia/Coacuaddus.
The 32 criteria of the Programme, very "rigid" and the same for everyone at an international level, are updated periodically in such a way as to push the participating local administrations to commit to solving, and improving over time, the problems relating to land management in order to of careful protection of the environment.
The Blue Flags do not only concern water quality, but also sustainability, services to citizens, inclusion, waste disposal and much more .
In Italy there are 485 beaches with excellent sea, which correspond to approximately 11.5% of those awarded worldwide.
