Nothing in compensation from the Ministry and a sensational protest starts from Cabras . There are many fishermen on a war footing who have decided to make themselves heard once and for all with the hope of obtaining money to block fishing in the Capo Frasca range.

This morning the second meeting with local operators promoted by the Municipality was held in Cabras. «In recent days we find ourselves having to face a paradoxical situation: while the State is precise in blocking fishing in the area of the shooting ranges due to military exercises, it is not as careful in respecting the agreements by paying compensation to the operators for the fishing stoppage », says mayor Andrea Abis. «It matters little that the sums intended for our companies have been seized in recent weeks by the creditors of the Ministry of Defense upon order of the judge, the final result is that an income that should have been certain at the end of the year risks no longer being so and to be postponed until who knows what time next year . Only as far as we are concerned, more than one and a half million euros will not enter the pockets of the families of Cabra. The Government and Ministry need to give immediate responses."

During the meeting organized by the Municipality it emerged that the current block on payments, if continued for months, could have important consequences on people's lives. On the blocking of compensation, the Fisheries Councilor Alessandra Pinna started a dialogue with the Ministry and the Region, also informing the Prefect: «We are acting from the first moment to urge a rapid resolution of the problem, which in our navy, one of the largest of Sardinia, involves around 220 people and therefore families who find themselves forced to face difficult socio-economic conditions ."

Siro Massa, fisherman and president of the Santa Rita cooperative: « We have decided to organize an event in Cagliari in which we intend to involve all the cooperatives in Sardinia. If it were necessary, we are ready to get in touch with the national associations for a blockade of all the ranges in Sardinia and the peninsula ." Gianluca Atzori, president of the Lo Jaws cooperative, is of the same opinion: «We expect the Ministry to honor the economic agreement with the Sardinian fishermen, who have to deal with the presence of military ranges. We ask that, as promised, military compensation for lost income for the 2022 year be paid to us by 2023. "
