Three Nigerian citizens were arrested by the Sassari Mobile Squad on the orders of the Attorney General. The charge is that of criminal association, aimed at trafficking in persons, enslavement and exploitation of prostitution.

The arrest warrants were issued after the three were sentenced to one year, 7 years and 10 months and 5 years and 10 months of imprisonment respectively.

This is the result of an investigation launched in 2007, during which the investigators of the Sassari Police Headquarters had discovered and dismantled a criminal association whose members, promising regular work, brought young girls from Nigeria to Italy, forcing them into prostitution in the streets of Sassari, behind the threat of physical retaliation and subjecting them to voodoo rites.

After the release of handcuffs, the three people captured were taken to the Pallet Prison.
