The farewell is final. No delays, no extensions, nor exceptions: from April 2024 the energy market will enter entirely into the private sector, bringing with it at least half a million Sardinians who until now have not accepted the myriad of attractive offers from private companies, thus preferring remain (some out of laziness, some out of fear of stings) in the old market managed by the national electricity system and therefore protected by the Energy Guarantor.

The Energy decree passed by the government does not allow for any delays: the transition will be from the more protected market to the free one. The amount of the electricity bill will no longer depend on the determination of the base price that Arera releases quarterly: the operators, together with the competition, will establish how much will be paid. And the user will be able to choose which tariff is convenient for him, based on his lifestyle and habits.

So far on the island, over a third of users (34.9%) are in the higher protection market: around half a million Sardinians. Everything will change, for (almost) everyone. With some exceptions.
