There were bedbugs in two rooms, C and R. And as soon as they received the report, "management immediately ordered the evacuation and the simultaneous prohibition of access, immediately activating all the procedures required by the emergency health protocols."

The Cagliari Local Health Authority (ASL) is responding to a complaint from Fials union representative Paolo Cugliara, who reported the presence of insects in the Geriatrics ward of the Santissima Trinità hospital in Cagliari.

"In one of the two rooms, a thorough disinfestation and sanitization process was promptly carried out," the company announced, "accompanied by subsequent environmental checks and monitoring, which allowed normal safety conditions to be restored. In the other room, parasites were found exclusively on an anti-decubitus mattress."

The cleanup operations, made more complex by the particular conformation of the device, required additional technical time to ensure an effective and definitive intervention.

Management, the ASL assures, "is continuing to constantly monitor the situation and the room will remain off limits until it is certified completely free of parasites."

Checks and inspections were also carried out on the false ceilings and other adjacent rooms, "without finding any further critical issues."

If a definitive solution is not found, the hospital management "will declare the affected premises unusable."

The company management, which Cugliara claimed had failed to provide a rapid response, "emphasized that all activities were carried out in full compliance with health protocols, with immediate intervention, ongoing monitoring, and constant supervision of operations. The specialized company responsible for disinfection and remediation procedures was promptly involved, ensuring the rapid restoration of safety conditions for patients and staff."

The union representative also reported complaints from some workers who had been bitten by insects. The health authority denied this claim.
