With the arrival of the rains and the beginning of the autumn season, the Sassari Local Health Authority guarantees users the Mycological Inspectorate, capable of classifying the mushrooms collected and intended for self-consumption. It is located within the Prevention Department, in the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service and guarantees prevention, control and edibility certification activities of wild fresh mushrooms intended for citizens' self-consumption but also of those intended for sale or administration. in catering and gastronomy establishments. The mycological help desk is available to restaurateurs and traders for any consultancy and certification, upon reservation.

The advice of the experts: «It is useful to remember that mushroom poisonings, which unfortunately occur in large numbers every year, are caused by uncontrolled mushrooms, therefore those who habitually or occasionally consume spontaneous mushrooms, collected personally or received as gifts, are invited to contact to the Inspectorate, where mycologists will carry out free checks on mushrooms intended for self-consumption."

Among the competences of the Inspectorate, the control and health certification of wild mushrooms intended for sale or administration (mandatory by law) is also of considerable importance.

The activities within the competence of the inspectorate are however guaranteed by expert mycologists, even in other periods and outside office hours, by making a telephone appointment.
