The alarm for the danger of flooding of the Maccheronis dam in Torpè, an area already devastated by the cyclone Cleopatra eight years ago, when a victim was also registered, is back.

"The height of the reservoir - explains Ambrogio Guiso, president of the Consortium of Reclamation of Central Sardinia - is 37 meters equivalent to 11 million square meters of water, far from the maximum level of 24 million when the reservoir is full. I want to reassure the downstream population, for now there is no criticality. We monitor 24 hours a day and we are ready to intervene in case of need ".

In the early hours of the morning the Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and volunteers restarted their activities in the Baronia to remove debris from homes and businesses after the water bomb that hit the Siniscola area last night, especially in the hamlet of La Caletta. Today schools closed not only in Siniscola but also in Posada, Torpè and Lodè. All four municipalities have brought together the COCs and are proceeding with the management of the emergency in close connection with the Prefecture of Nuoro.

The roads leading from Posada to La Caletta and Siniscola have been reopened, while the two roads from Siniscola to La Caletta are still closed. "However - says the mayor of Siniscola, Gian Luigi Farris - no one has spent the night away from home. We are working to get back to normal and we are monitoring the situation minute by minute, ready to intervene at any time".
