Giovanna Antonia Piu Oppes, the grandmother of Pozzomaggiore, known as "aunt Toiedda", is 100 years old. It was celebrated in great joy by her children (with her daughter Assunta, Lucia and her son Pietrino with their respective families), numerous grandchildren, relatives and friends in a farmhouse in the area. Aunt Toiedda, a very religious and well-liked person in the town, has dedicated her entire life to the care of her family. She was widowed in 2000. Her husband, a hard worker, was a Communist, while she, a churchwoman, a fervent Christian Democrat. Obviously for this reason never no quarrel and only mutual respect, as was the custom in those days.

The mayor of Pozzomaggiore Mariano Soro was present at the 100th anniversary ceremony.

"Aunt Toiedda is a fantastic woman, very lucid and with an iron memory - specifies the mayor - She expertly reminded me of her many friendships, facts and episodes as a child and of the simple and rural life of those distant periods, seasoned with tasty anecdotes. Zia Toiedda is for everyone a great resource of our community, an example of the strong and proud character of Sardinian women, which make them unique in the world ".
