They saved her from certain death, freeing her from the car that was left teetering on the cliff while she tried to take her own life.

The alarm was triggered last night when a man from Porto Torres contacted the station to report that his wife had not returned home after an outing with friends. “I want to kill myself,” she told him on the phone. To his insistent requests to tell him where he was, he finally responded: he had decided to end it in the Abbacurrente area, on the road to Platamona.

The intervention of a mobile radio patrol was immediate and began to inspect the provincial road without success. Thanks to an intuition of a soldier, the crew decided to check a path that runs perpendicular to the SP81 near the Abbacurrente tower , and right there they found a car dangerously balanced on the ridge, with the front part protruding onto the empty : 4 meters below the cliff.

Inside the woman, in a confused state. The recovery operation was extremely delicate: while one of the soldiers acted as a counterweight in the rear part of the car, the other very carefully opened the door and extracted the almost unconscious woman from the passenger compartment.

An ambulance then took her to hospital for treatment, while a tow truck, with the help of the same soldiers, managed to recover the car and make it safe.
