The Court of Cassation confirmed the convictions for Giovanni Olianas, former deputy mayor of Villagrande, Luca Arzu of Talana and the other members of the Ogliastra gang specializing in assaults on security guards. On appeal, Olianas's sentence had been reduced to 28 years. There had been no penalty discount for Arzu.
The defendants were accused by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of having set up an organization specialized in assaults on armored vans, held responsible for numerous robberies (successful or attempted) in which weapons of war were also used. The investigators of the SCO, the Organized Crime Section of the Cagliari Police Headquarters, in collaboration with the Mobile Squad and the Nuoro Guardia di Finanza, worked for three years on the investigation into the assaults on security guards, under the guidance of Danilo Tronci.

At the end of the trial of first instance, the Court of Lanusei presided over by judge Ermengarda Ferrarese, had imposed overall sentences for almost two and a half centuries.

Originally, the Cagliari DDA had challenged the gang with 12 robberies (some of which failed) in markets, shopping centers, security institutes and security carriers. In the Supreme Court, the accusation relating to the coup at the Mondialpol headquarters in Arzachena fell (failed, July 2015).

The sentence of conviction for Manuele and Matteo Soro canceled and postponed. Confirmed, with some slight reduction, the sentences for all the other defendants.
