According to reports, the robbers who this morning attacked a Vigilpol armored car on State Road 131, near Giave, escaped aboard a red Alfa 147 and a gray Volkswagen Golf.

The cars used for the escape were found in Badde Salighes, just over 20 kilometers from the site of the robbery: they were set on fire to try to erase all traces.

The robbers, between six and ten, according to initial reports, had planned everything down to the smallest detail.

They intercepted the armored van traveling towards Cagliari at kilometer 170, with nails thrown on the asphalt. The passage was blocked by a truck and a small car which were set on fire. Another vehicle was set on fire at the rear. Traffic also blocked in the direction of Sassari: one of the criminals pointed his rifle at the driver of a lorry, who was forced to stop and sideways.

Then all hell broke loose, with the shooting. The toll is three wounded: they are two security guards and a girl unrelated to the blow, remained in the crossfire.

Having taken the booty, the amount of which has not yet been determined (but it would be small), the bandits reached the getaway cars. They had left them parked on a country lane.

According to what is learned , the vehicles would have been spotted by officers aboard a police car in the Illorai area, but it was not possible to reach them. Smoke and flames that rose high from Badde Salighes allowed their identification.

A gigantic manhunt is underway throughout Sardinia.
