The first thoughts of CGIL Sardinia Secretary General Simona Fanzecco, speaking this morning in Buggerru at the commemoration of the massacre, go to all "the workers who operate in difficult and risky conditions, on construction sites, in industrial warehouses, in the fields, and in all workplaces where temperatures reach unbearable levels."

Indeed, it's not just a matter of regulating extreme situations, but of starting to consider a comprehensive framework that protects all types of work, in every sector. "We need to create permanent protection tools ," he said, "to ensure workers can operate with safety and dignity, in extreme heat as well as in all the complex conditions that climate change is creating."

Two years ago, "on this very occasion, CGIL, CISL, and UIL signed the Buggerru Pact with the regional presidency, a protocol aimed at strengthening all measures to protect health and safety in the workplace," Simona Fanzecco recalled, emphasizing that "we are a long way from its implementation, also because the allocated resources were allocated late."

The union's hope and appeal to the Region on Buggerru Day is that this protocol be fully implemented .
