Where laws on suitable areas have failed (declared unconstitutional), a formal notice can be issued regarding a seemingly minor issue: the approval process for the Isili Wind wind farm project was suspended due to improper use of the regional logo by the company planning to build the plant. This issue has stalled the ongoing process at the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.

The plan by the Apulian company Scs 20, an LLC, is well-known and controversial: the goal is to build eleven 200-meter-tall turbines in an agricultural area between Isili and Villanova Tulo . Just two days ago, the Municipality, led by Luca Pilia, organized a public meeting at which the local population reiterated their opposition to wind power, which would only bring benefits far from the area.

The Environmental Assessment process, which had been underway for years, was nearing its end. Only on August 31 did the Region finally strike a blow. Viale Trento requested "the removal of the coat of arms of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia from all project documents, emphasizing that 'the use of the logo by entities external to the regional administration must always and exclusively be linked to initiatives sponsored or funded by the Region.'" This ploy had already been used by some municipalities, which had seen their coat of arms on documents filed by other energy companies: they didn't want it to appear as if they were sponsoring them.

The region's attempt worked: the ministry announced that "the documentation has been removed from the Environmental Assessment Portal (...) and the process is considered suspended." The company will have to resubmit all the documents. A nuisance, more than a victory. But an effective one.
