Four years and eight months. This is the sentence handed down by the Cagliari preliminary investigations judge to the perpetrator of the arson attack that broke out in May 2025 in the Pula area, very close to the town of Sarroch and the Saras refinery.

The proceedings stem from the investigative work carried out by the Forestry Corps, which allowed them to reconstruct the dynamics of the fire and collect crucial evidence.

The fire broke out on the afternoon of May 29th in the Su Leunaxi area. Once the flames were extinguished, a partially burned homemade incendiary device was found at the ignition point. Subsequent analysis of video recordings revealed the circumstances of the incident and the perpetrator: surveillance cameras had captured a man throwing the device from his car onto the side of the road . The rest of the property was discovered during a search.

The man was investigated for arson and appeared before the preliminary investigations judge in recent days, agreeing to a plea bargain sentence of 4 years and 8 months in prison.
