In view of Women's Health Week, promoted by the National Observatory on Women's and Gender Health (Onda), the cardiology department of the Policlinico Duilio Casula in Monserrato is promoting free telephone cardiology consultations with its specialists, directed by Professor Roberta Montisci . Aimed primarily at women, but not only, they will be held on Thursday 26, Friday 27, Monday 30 September as well as Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 October, from 3 to 5 pm by calling the number 070/51096596 .

The cardiologists of the Casula Polyclinic will be available to provide information on the main pathologies. Among these aneurysm, abdominal aortic, cardiac infarction, valvular and carotid pathologies, with particular attention to women. The objective is to act on prevention and information , to be able to recognize cardiac pathologies in advance and to be able to deal with them in time, given that the timeliness of the diagnosis in these cases is absolutely crucial.

Information. In industrialized countries, cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death for both men and women. In the latter, the number of heart attacks increases significantly after menopause , as the protection provided by hormones present during the fertile period is lost.

In addition, women are at a disadvantage in recognizing symptoms compared to men. For example, in young women, heart attack symptoms do not always have the so-called typical features, such as chest pain radiating to the arm . In addition to Women's Health Week, World Heart Day is also celebrated on Sunday, September 29.
