Illegal activity in the Gutturu Mannu regional park .

As part of their regular park inspections, Uta station staff from the Forest Service discovered a building undergoing renovation .

Subsequent investigations revealed that the building did not have the required landscape, forestry and Park Authority permits .

Therefore, by order of the Court of Cagliari, the property was seized and the owner, the designer and the construction manager were reported for violation of the Cultural Heritage Code.

As recalled by the Forestry Department «the urban planning-building transformation activity in the park area is subject to a series of prescriptions and assessments by various bodies , which must express themselves on the compatibility of the intervention with respect to the naturalistic and landscape values of the protected area. The construction of new works and the modification of existing ones in the absence of the prescribed authorizations constitutes a crime and is punished with a fine of up to 100 thousand euros, in addition to restoring the state prior to the abuse. The operation is part of the institutional activity of safeguarding and protecting the protected areas of Sardinia, which is guaranteed daily and in a capillary manner by the Forestry Corps".
