A story that begins on September 17, 1919 in Osini , where Battistina Piras was born and lived for the first part of her life. Third of 7 children, "Aunt Battista" married on 28 October 1938 with Eugenio Podda and together they gave birth to 9 children, 2 of whom died at an early age.

In 1946 she moved to Cortoghiana, in Sulcis Iglesiente, together with her three little daughters Maria, for all Mariolina, Anna and Angela, to follow her husband, a miner in Carbonia. In Sulcis another 3 children are born: Paolo, Antonina, for all Antonella, and Ivonne. Then Roberto was born in Osini.

The vicissitudes of Battistina Piras's family and Poste Italiane intersect , to be inseparably linked over time, at the end of the 1960s in Milan, where Aunt Battista moved to follow Mariolina, fresh winner of a competition at the Ministry of Posts and telecommunications. Ms. Piras settled in the Lombard capital with her entire family, where she remained until 2014, working as a domestic worker for a family of professors and in which, with the help of her eldest daughters, she tries to give a future to younger children, who in the meantime are studying and all get to graduate from high school.

Having reached this important milestone, even Paolo, Antonella, Ivonne and Roberto, overcoming a competition in turn, become part of the large family of Poste Italiane , albeit in different areas, roles and even regions: Mariolina at the provincial branch in Milan, first as an employee in branch 3 and subsequently in the management center, Paolo, as a technician of franking machines at the mechanized postal center of Peschiera Borromeo, Antonella at the branch Milano 5, in the role of collaborator of the post office in Vimodrone, Roberto applied as a technician at the pole technology of Milan, Ivonne, until 2011 employed by the provincial branch of Nuoro, in the role of director of the post office in Osini.

The son-in-law Franco, husband of Antonella, who worked until 2006 in the delivery sector as an internal agent in the Cassina de Pecchi distribution center, was joined by his son-in-law, Ermelinda, wife Roberto, currently still employed in the role of consultant at the post office in Settimo Milanese, his niece Francesca, daughter of Ivonne, currently employed in the role of business specialist in Tortolì, now second generation "postal".

To Mrs. Piras, who lived and still lives in a historical period linked to the greatest changes and discoveries that mankind has ever known, and who has managed to adapt so well to progress that her mobile phone is used by her with extreme ease as a direct line with the outside world , the provincial director of Nuoro, Andrea Madeddu, the human resources manager of the provincial branch, Francesco Maria Santisi, and the director of the Osini post office, Antonio Salis, a few days away from the at the completion of his 103rd birthday, they handed over a celebratory parchment for the precious goal achieved, also considering the “family” relationship with Poste Italiane.

In the text of the parchment, flanked by an image of Mrs. Battistina intent on carrying out the withdrawal of her pension, the heartfelt wishes for the 103 years of age : "A zia Battista, cun totu su coru, norabonas po custus Centuetres annus, is emplous de knows Posta de Nuoro and de Osini ”. At the end of the ceremony, Mrs. Piras wanted to thank the provincial director, the head of Human Resources and the staff of the post office with a smile, making an appointment for next year, for a new and great "family" party.
