The Carabinieri of the Company of Jerzu and of the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Nuoro returned to Pelau, in the countryside area where Riccardo Muceli, a 38-year-old farmer from Gairo, was killed yesterday evening while returning home after working in his fold.

Investigators are sifting through the crime area in broad daylight, with the aim of finding any possible clue that may have escaped in the dark of night.

Yesterday at 10 pm, after 4 hours of surveys, the Lanusei prosecutor Gualtiero Battisti authorized the removal of the body and transport to the Lanusei hospital where tomorrow the coroner Nicola Lenigno will perform the autopsy.

According to an initial reconstruction by the investigators, the killer waited for Muceli at the end of the private road leading to his fold: as he passed the Punto Bianca led by the farmer, he fired at least two shots from a rifle.

After about another 100 meters, the car crashed into a wall causing a loud bang clearly heard by a woman who lives nearby and who, thinking of an accident, called 118. The resuscitation attempts were useless.

Muceli has no criminal record and in Gairo they describe him as a quiet person. Difficult investigations, a connection with the feud that between 2014 and 2015 bloodied the country cannot be ruled out: in 2014 two farmers, Aldo Caboi and Fabrizio Ligas, were ambushed and only wounded; in 2015 Simone Piras and Massimiliano Langiu, young breeders aged 33 and 27, were shot dead.

In these hours, the military are talking to relatives and friends of the victim to reconstruct his acquaintances, and there is a manhunt from Jerzu to Gairo, with checkpoints and interrogations.
