"If the AOU does not resort to finding new anesthesiologists, from next November the marine hospital "Regina Margherita" of Alghero will no longer be able to guarantee operations even in the only operating room available to the orthopedics department. It would be the end. And since, as happened in the past, there is no will to transfer anesthesiologists from Sassari (the AOU has over 100) always within the same mixed company, it will almost certainly be necessary to resort to additional services, generously paid, perhaps even more than before, to guarantee, and only for a few more months, the anesthesiological and surgical activity and the shifts, day and night".

Mario Bruno, former mayor of Alghero, raises the alarm about the shortage of anesthetists in the Alghero health facility. "Can a hospital sustain itself on very expensive, short-term project contracts, spending hundreds of thousands of euros to guarantee the ordinary functioning of the facility and only for a few months? And when will there be a guarantee of full-time staff that can justify the AOU taking charge of the hospital?", continues the Democratic Party representative. And again: "We cannot continue indefinitely with the use of additional services , renewed every few months, as has been happening for too long. This is why we need to address the situation seriously, verifying whether it is possible for the Region to reunite, with courage and foresight, the companies that manage healthcare in the territory, to the advantage of hospital and territorial activity. With balance in the top responsibilities between hospital and university staff . With a comprehensive project that includes human resources, work organization and logistics, entrusted to a management capable of giving back to the territory the services it needs, starting with the first level Dea for the Alghero hospital".
