Official meeting between the mayor of Alghero, Mario Conoci, and the new director of the “Giuseppe Tomasiello” prison, Tullia Carra, who took office last November. It was an opportunity to talk about the collaboration between the Municipality of Alghero and the penitentiary institute, in particular the development of social inclusion projects for prisoners, who could be involved in works of social utility, also through investee companies, in field of decoration and urban greenery, maintenance or in museum or library areas. A project that has already produced excellent results in past years with the aim of the social reintegration of detained people.
Mario Conoci brought the city's greetings to the new director Tullia Carra, in the presence of the prison police commander Antonello Brancati. «For Alghero, prison is a reality perfectly inserted into the urban context, from a physical point of view but also from a social point of view – comments the mayor Conoci. - It is important that there is a synergy with the municipal institution and with business entities so that the process of social reintegration of prisoners is fully effective."
Together with the mayor, also the municipal councilor Christian Mulas who was the main promoter of the guarantor for prisoners who, as underlined by the president of the Fifth Commission himself, "represents the figure of democracy, of civilization and of dialogue between administration and prison". Precisely in one of the last sessions of 2023 the city council had unanimously voted Carmelo Piras as guarantor.
