The Public Land Regulation will soon be presented to the city council in Alghero and will have to regulate concessions for bars and restaurants. This is the result of a series of meetings initiated at the request of Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto last autumn with neighborhood committees, trade associations and stakeholders.

"The goal is to best reconcile the sharing of public space between the needs of businesses and the rights of citizens - says the mayor - we want to build a clear overall picture, in compliance with the rules, and that guarantees citizens to feel at the center of the choices".

The work of stitching together the different expectations finds synthesis in the work of the council commissions and the Departments of Economic Development and State Property, led by Ornella Piras and Enrico Daga. A shared line of thought has been followed: it has often been the abuses and the failure to comply with the prescriptions that have caused that sense of chaotic disorder detected by the citizens.

The work was therefore oriented towards some important changes and to re-establish order in the concessions, effective control interventions, compliance with the rules and rigor of the checks. The most important changes concern the stop to properties not adjacent to the business that participate in the calculation of the surfaces. A deformation that has determined over the years situations of disproportion between business premises and land granted. And also: the system of bonuses, or quotas of additional square meters granted on the basis of a series of obligations by the businesses, is revised with more stringent rules, or with the certification sworn by a technician of the commitment to open for at least ten months, and with at least three employees for bars and five employees for restaurants, hired for the same period.

And again: the radius of the non-permittable areas is expanded, adding to the list also the steps of Lungomare Dante and Bastioni Marco Polo. The possibility of granting the land to the activities that "see" the entrance to the business is also reduced: it goes from 30 to 25 meters.
