The carcass of a shark, probably of the Hammer species belonging to the Sphyrnidae family, has washed up on the coast of Alghero di Maria Pia.
A rare but not so impossible event, as the agents of the Alghero forestry department who intervened on the spot explain, since the remains of the animal, in an advanced state of decomposition , could have arrived, pushed by the storm surges, from the Balearic Islands.
The harbor master's office and the animal health service of the ASL of Sassari were also notified of the exceptional discovery which, together with the staff of the Municipality of Alghero, proceeded to remove the shark with the help of a mechanical means.
The carcass was buried , also to avoid sanitation problems.
