Alessandra Zedda: «Let's reopen the Amphitheatre: visits and shows»
The centre-right mayoral candidate in Cagliari attacks her opponent of the same name, a former mayor: «He closed the monument, leaving it to decay»«We will reopen the Roman Amphitheater. We will return it to the enjoyment of citizens and tourists to bring it back to life also through shows" : this is the promise of the candidate for mayor for the centre-right in Cagliari, Alessandra Zedda, who spoke this morning in front of the entrance to the monument in Viale Sant'Ignazio. Next to her were the former councilor for urban planning of the municipality of Cagliari, Gianni Campus, and Rossella Atzori, art historian.
«We say it openly», Zedda (Alessandra) pointed the finger, «Massimo Zedda closed the Amphitheatre, leaving one of the most significant pieces of our history to decay and neglect, and then hid behind the alibi of a redevelopment never completed in eight years of municipal government. Today it places the responsibilities and blame for this disaster on other administrative managements."
The restoration site closed after the pandemic. We start again, according to the centre-right programme, from the preliminary redevelopment project, approved by the previous administration, with the approval of the Superintendence. «It is necessary to accelerate the awarding of the executive planning. The resources deployed are equal to three million euros intended, among other things, for the safety of the site and the rationalization of access (with two new entrances, one from the Botanical Garden and the other from the Faculty of Law) », added Zedda , «with particular attention to the removal of architectural barriers to allow entry for disabled people».
The objective is to reopen to cultural visits, already active but little promoted, but also to events: «The Amphitheater represented one of the most important artistic showcases for Cagliari. Here began the summer nights, the call of the general public, the great live music, an industry that has been extinguished in the city today and which we want to rekindle", reiterated Alessandra Zedda. The new audience will follow the profile of the missing part of the Amphitheater and will restore its visual appeal. Among the planned interventions, the redevelopment of the service center and the opening of the "Roman" garden, which will connect the Botanical Garden to the Amphitheatre.
