A 78-year-old man denounced by the Forestry Corps after being caught "foraging" wild boars inside the Ales - Morgongiori - Pau Wildlife Protection Oasis.
The man used to scatter handfuls of maize on the ground and then set up photo traps to film the ungulates that arrived in the evening to feed. A preparatory activity for upcoming illegal hunting trips.
«Let's remember - explains a note from the Forestry Corps - that the "baiting" technique is very often used by hunters and poachers in the context of ungulate hunting to gain trust from wild animals and is aimed at getting the wild boars used to attending a certain area; thus, with the help of a camera trap, the time of arrival of these mammals is recorded in order to subsequently shoot them down with a shot».
But, as mentioned, the illegal activity was interrupted by the men of the Forestry Corps of Ales, who stopped and identified the 78-year-old, reporting him to the judicial authority.
For him also a fine that could exceed two thousand euros.
