Airports go to private investors, new accusations fly: "Public interest at risk."
Controversy erupts during Councilor Barbara Manca's hearing before the Transport Committee.Fresh controversy erupted in the Regional Council over the privatization of Sardinia's three airports . Councilor Barbara Manca , sitting on the Transport Committee , defended the operation, the phased process of which is established in the term sheet approved by the Todde administration.
The document of intent envisages the creation of a holding company that will manage the future airport network. The Region will hold a 10% stake, with a strategic direction role. The initial investment will be €30 million, which will be allocated in the next budget amendment .
The councilor's hearing was requested by the opposition, which has consistently criticized the lack of transparency in an operation they've previously characterized as a gift to the council's private sector. This assessment remains unchanged.
For the center-right, the public interest is seriously at risk. A further round of hearings has therefore been requested, starting with the governor. These concerns have also resurfaced within the majority, with the request for the involvement of the entire Regional Council and the social partners.
