A huge marijuana plantation – with 19 rows and 1,445 plants, some almost two metres tall – discovered by the Carabinieri of the Ghilarza Company and the Oristano Provincial Command in the countryside of Aidomaggiore.

The plantation was also spotted thanks to the collaboration with the personnel of the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori di Sardegna" and with that of the Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Cagliari-Elmas.

The land and plants were thus seized, while a 23-year-old was arrested and placed under house arrest.

To mislead the investigation, the arrested man had placed signs indicating the cultivation of "legal" hemp sativa and during a check the same young man had handed over regular cannabis seeds to the Carabinieri.

However, the drug tests carried out by the RIS revealed a THC level above the permitted levels, triggering the measures.
