"Don't take those dogs away, now we take care of them too, everything has changed, the vet, and they are the only ones in the Nuoro area also followed by a behaviourist". The voice is that of a dozen volunteers who, in the aftermath of the scandal that broke out at the Croce Blu kennel in Nuoro for the alleged mistreatment of stray animals, rolled up their sleeves and looked after the animals every day.

Today, around 10 am, the municipality of Ottana will transfer the 18 dogs it owns that it has hospitalized in Nuoro, and will take them to the Siniscola kennel. "What does it mean? - the volunteers ask - now it is no longer necessary - they argue - The kennel is in place. The animals are fed, cleaned, cared for properly and have water and a great space to run around. This transfer is a further trauma because they will be placed in a new context to which they will have to adapt with other animals". Not only that: "We have personally taken action for adoptions, the main purpose of the public kennel, and this with the transfer could disappear once the animals are taken elsewhere".

Last year a complaint was received for the conditions, deemed inadequate, in which they were kept in the Croce Blu facility. The kennel has an agreement with the municipalities of Nuoro, Ottana, and stray animals are hospitalized here. The Public Prosecutor of Nuoro had opened a file and then, following some expert reports that had explained that some animals were suffering from disorders not related to the conditions in which they were kept, filed everything without proceeding.

Improvements had also been made in the structure carried out by the president. But a few months ago a report was released on national TV reporting an outdated situation, no longer current, fueling new controversies and a new complaint to the prosecutor. Today at 10 the transfer of the 18 dogs from Ottana to which the volunteers oppose: «If the means of transport are not adequate, the dogs will not go anywhere» they say. For now, the 90 animals hospitalized by the municipality of Nuoro will remain in the kennel.
