Closed continuously for 11 years, now the Tortolì airport could reopen and in a short time. After the meeting two days ago in the Region, which was also attended by the Councilor for Transport Giorgio Todde, yesterday a further step forward in a videoconference with the leaders of Upper Sky-Aliparma Group, the company operating in the transport service aircraft for a wealthy clientele, which has shown interest in the Ogliastra airport and in the requests of the provincial Ogliastra industrial consortium, which is the sole shareholder of the company that owns the AliArbatax facility.

The remote summit was attended by the president of the industrial consortium, Franco Ammendola, the sole director of the Upper Sky-Aliparma Group, Giancarlo Insinna, the general manager of Aliparma, Mauro Izzacani, and the councilor Todde.

On the one hand, the company is interested in the airport to offer services to its charter customers - mostly Arab tycoons - on the other hand there is the Consortium which demands guarantees for the territory.

"The negotiation is well underway but not yet closed - said President Ammendola - Before proceeding with the written contract, it is necessary to agree on the organization and purpose of the airport: we as a Consortium aim for usefulness for the territory and we will highlight all the points in a possible notarial deed. ”The request, in particular, concerns the fact that“ a certain number of slots are dedicated to the local economy: villages and tourist facilities in general ”.

After the verbal agreements, the floor will pass to a pool of experts who will verify the legal feasibility of the project. Before that, however, the ENAC problem remains to be solved, which should respond by March 21 on the request for the release of the general aviation authorization, with the reopening to daytime traffic of private aircraft, weighing up to 5.7 tons. and maximum 12 passengers on board. Secondly, the application for civil aviation authorization for tourist charters up to 100 passengers will be submitted.
