Four accidents at work with fatal consequences have been recorded in Italy in the past few hours and two of these in Sardinia. The latest is the one that took place yesterday in Sassari where a worker from Ambiente Italia, Gianuario Derudas, 43, was crushed by the forklift he was driving. On Thursday evening, Antonello Porcu was finishing his shift when he fell from a mobile platform in a logistics company in the industrial area of Monastir. The 60-year-old from Cagliari died practically on the spot.

Uiltrasporti Sardegna asks that a discussion table for safety in the workplace be opened immediately with all the institutions responsible for the controls and safeguarding of personnel. "Like Uiltrasporti and Uil - explains William Zonca, secretary general - we have been fighting for years a battle against deaths at work with the zero death campaign. It is unacceptable that in 2021 people still continue to die like this. We have had two fewer deaths than 24 hours".
