The situation at the facility will also be brought before Parliament: Five Star Movement Senator Sabrina Licheri will submit a question to the Government . The Monastir complex currently houses two different facilities: the Extraordinary Reception Center, where people already present at the facility live, and the Hotspot, where newly disembarked migrants are accompanied for identification procedures.

"What we have seen today is the result of the Meloni government's failed political management, which is causing a threefold damage to people. The first concerns the citizens of Monastir and the surrounding area, forced to live with the consequences of decisions made in Rome and with growing concerns for their safety. The second concerns the police and staff, called upon every day to work in extremely difficult conditions. The third, and most serious, concerns migrants, forced to live in conditions that cannot be considered dignified . They are the first victims of this management," says Solinas. "The Meloni government continues to treat Sardinia as a colony on which to offload problems that affect the entire country. We saw this with the decision to send hundreds of prisoners under Article 41-bis to the island, and we are seeing it now with Monastir. Decisions are made in Rome, while the consequences are left on the shoulders of the local area, the citizens, the police, and the people housed in the facilities."
