The Alghero Coast Guard organized and coordinated a port security and fire prevention exercise in the port, with the aim of verifying the efficiency of communications with the bodies involved and the intervention times. In particular, the personnel of the Maritime District Office staged a security incident in the port area, which subsequently caused a fire, on board the motor vessel called "Andrea Padre", moored at the Customs dock. Furthermore, the presence of a member of the on-board crew injured by burns was simulated.

The operations room activated "the port fire and security plans", coordinating the operations and arranging for the military personnel to be sent ashore. The Technical Office staff promptly intervened on site and, maintaining continuous radio contact with the port commander, coordinated the various interventions on the dock.

A state police patrol from the Alghero police station, the firefighters and the staff of local 118 were on site. In order to guarantee navigation safety, the use of the GC B153 nautical vehicle was ordered, which blocked the mirror water affected by the fire.

The commander of the Maritime District Office of Alghero, Lieutenant Biagio Semeraro, wanted to thank all those present for the professionalism demonstrated, specifying that the good outcome with which the exercise concluded was the result of a synergistic, qualified action and responsible for the entities that, within their specific competences, have operated for the protection of public safety and security.
