No prison for the twenty-nine year old from Osilo accused of attempted murder against her son, who was given birth two days ago at home and abandoned on the street.

The investigating judge Giuseppe Grotteria rejected, at 1pm in court in Sassari, the request for precautionary custody of Bancali made by prosecutor Maria Paola Asara.

The judge, after the discussion of the defense lawyers Gianmarco Maura, Elisa Caggiari and Pietro Fresu, ordered to reclassify the crime as child abandonment : thus it was also decided to immediately release the young woman, who is currently hospitalized in Gynecology department of the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari.

Already tomorrow, Saturday, he will return to his home, where he lives with the

mom. The newborn, who the doctors have named Francesco, remains in the Neonatology department. His health conditions are good and we are awaiting decisions from the Juvenile Court regarding possible custody.

At the moment it is excluded that the little one can be entrusted to his family: the mother has not yet formally recognized him as her son.
