A wave of bad weather is about to hit Sardinia, and will bring heavy rains especially on the eastern part of the island starting tomorrow, Friday 17 January 2025. The result of a Mediterranean cyclone that will also bring rainfall in the form of torrential rains.
The phenomena will be caused by a Mediterranean cyclone and the worst day, according to the experts at IlMeteo.it, will be Friday, with record rainfall in Sardinia, Calabria and Sicily. In some areas of the island, more than 100 mm of water could fall in 24 hours.
For this reason, the Civil Protection has issued a two-day alert, starting from 9 am on Friday 17th and ending at 11.59 pm on Saturday 18th January . For both days , the entire eastern sector of the island (Flumendosa-Flumineddu and Gallura), from north to south, is colored orange, the eastern sector and the internal areas are colored yellow .
On the eastern side of Sardinia, in fact, cumulatives up to "very high" are expected, on the western side "weak to high". Strong winds are also expected, with gusts of sirocco and levante up to 100 km per hour, storm surges with waves of 5 meters. Temperatures are rising.
Therefore, maximum caution is recommended and the repercussions from a hydrogeological point of view are feared, even if in the areas brought to their knees by drought this rain can really be a breath of fresh air.
In Cagliari, as always, Pirri is under special observation for the continuous flooding . And the Municipality indicates the list of streets where you cannot park: Balilla (from Piazza Italia to Via Dandolo) and side streets, Italia, Dolianova, Sinnai, Settimo, Mara, Donori, Santorre Di Santarosa, Confalonieri, Ampere.
Cars parked in these areas - the administration informs - can be transferred to the parking lot of the Terramaini swimming pool in via Pisano, to prevent damage resulting from possible flooding.
