A memorial to remember Giampiero Pinna, the founding father of the Santa Barbara Mining Path, who passed away at the age of 72 on 11 October.

On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of his death, a ceremony was held in memory of the former president at the Sanctuary of the Vergine del Buon Cammino and coinciding with the start of the first stage of the mining route designed and built by Pinna. A memorial was inaugurated for the occasion which reads: "Father and founder of the Mining Path of Santa Barbara, who passionately spent his life for the love of our people and our land, leaving an example of total dedication and commitment without reserve".

Many presences registered during the ceremony, in addition to the friends of Giampiero Pinna, acquaintances and members of the foundation of the Mining Path, there were also delegations from the municipal administration of Iglesias and various city associations.
