Perhaps it has never happened, or at least no one remembers, such an event on Solanas beach. Last night, a loggerhead turtle hatched. Instead of approaching the sea, it headed toward a nearby house and was quickly rescued by a vacationer.

Forestry officials and a biologist arrived on site and identified the nest that should house the other eggs. The area has been fenced off.

Almost a small miracle of nature, now that the tourist season is moving towards autumn, guaranteeing a quieter vacation on an extraordinary sea and beach. "I," says Vittorio Serra (a dentist from Sinnai and a master surfer who, in the 1980s, surfed around the Sardinian coast, sponsored by the Unione Sarda), "have lived in Solanas practically since I was born: I've never heard of loggerhead sea turtle nests. Although, of course, it's possible that other loggerhead sea turtles have hatched, taking to the sea. Now let's enjoy this spectacle. Truly a marvel."
