The smell in the street was so strong and nauseating that many feared the worst , so much so that they called not only the fire brigade, but also the 118 ambulances. After hours of apprehension, the confirmation, however, did not reassure : it was rotten meat stored in a warehouse in Cagliari.

It happened today on Via Napoli, in the Marina neighborhood, where passersby and shopkeepers immediately alerted law enforcement. During the response, part of the street was closed while firefighters, emergency medical services, and local police arrived on the scene to conduct all necessary investigations.

Until the last minute, no possibility was ruled out, with the fear that the stench might be coming from a private residence rather than a commercial establishment. Having identified the source of the persistent, acrid odor, firefighters cleared a path with a grinder.

At the end of the inspection, the confirmation came: rotten meat. Luckily, no one was in danger of finding it on their plate.
