80 tons of dangerous oils were seized by the forestry carabinieri of Cagliari.

The military carried out an investigation against a company with operational headquarters in Piscinas which, until 2022, dealt with the co-incineration of hazardous waste and identified 2 silos in a poor state of conservation. Inside them, large quantities of exhausted oil classified as hazardous waste for human health and the environment.

The oils had been stored inside the silos since at least 2018 and mixed together . In fact, according to the first documentary checks, the silos contain 9 different types of waste oil. Furthermore, according to what was reconstructed by the investigators, the oil would amount to 81.5 tons.

The irregularities would derive from the fact that in 2022 the company did not renew the AIA (Integrated Environmental Authorization), the title required by sector legislation for carrying out waste storage and disposal activities, but despite this it continued with the storage of waste oil and would also not have complied with the obligation resulting from the decommissioning of the incineration plant, the safety and remediation of the site.

The three sole directors of the company who have followed one another over time have been reported and could be called to answer for environmental crimes.
