He had just finished celebrating his graduation in physiotherapy when he saved a stranger who had fallen ill on the bus .

It happened in Bolzano, starring a 23-year-old girl .

The young woman, Marika, was still dressed as a sumo wrestler as her friends had imposed on her in a canonical post-graduate joke: a few hours earlier she had celebrated the completion, with honors, of the course of studies in physiotherapy at the Provincial High School of health "Claudiana".

Returning home, he heard a thud : a man, on the bus that was taking the whole family home, lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground. After a few moments of bewilderment Marika, who thanks also to her past as a promising young skier at a high level completed the first aid course twice, immediately got to work with CPR.

Her boyfriend, brothers and cousin assisted her in the resuscitation maneuvers : they too had followed the course. It took sixteen compressions of the sternum for the man, in his 50s, to regain consciousness.

In the meantime, an ambulance intervened and transported him to the hospital, where he was declared out of danger.

"Participating in first aid courses - Marika told the Alto Adige newspaper - is essential but even more is taking them regularly", because "it allows you to be prepared for these situations and save lives".
