He was stopped while wandering the streets of the center with a knife in his hand, threatening to kill passers-by. It happened on March 10 in Dalmine, in the province of Bergamo. He was stopped by the carabinieri and reported. The young man, an 18-year-old of Egyptian origins, was seen wandering the street with a 20-centimeter kitchen knife. The episode occurred outside a school, at the time the students were dismissed. The boy, after negotiating with the carabinieri who convinced him to put down the weapon, was stopped and then admitted to the psychiatric ward of the hospital in Bergamo. He was reported for aggravated threat and illegal possession of weapons.

According to the reconstruction, the young man left home shortly before 1:00 p.m., after arguing with his family. He was upset and threatened to kill and, holding a knife with a serrated blade, he headed toward the nearby school. "He was ready to strike," the carabinieri stressed. On the road he passed two students who were returning home and, after threatening them, shouted at them to go away. Panic spread quickly and some students who had already left school returned to the institute. In the meantime, a passerby alerted the Dalmine operations center and the two carabinieri from the first patrol to arrive on the scene convinced the boy to throw the knife and immobilized him.
