The tape, the knives and the inspection of the crime scene: was Giulia's murder premeditated?
Investigators are working to decide whether to also challenge Turetta's premeditation: which would mean life imprisonment as the maximum sentence and the impossibility of requesting a shortened sentence
Filippo Turetta purchased online some adhesive tape compatible with that piece of scotch tape found in the industrial area of Fossò where Giulia Cecchettin suffered the last phase of the attack.
A purchase made two or three days before November 11th, the day of the crime.
Further element in favor of the premeditation of the murder. In the precautionary custody order for the 22-year-old, voluntary homicide aggravated by an emotional relationship and kidnapping of people are charged, but investigators are working to evaluate also challenging the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, which would bring the maximum sentence to life imprisonment and it would also make it impossible to request the abbreviated procedure .
Other elements in favor of premeditation are the knives brought with him and an alleged inspection that the young man made that afternoon in Fossò before meeting Gulia . His Fiat Punto was detected at 5.11pm while it was heading from Vigonovo towards Fossò, 6 km away, and at 5.14pm it was passing through via Castellaro. After that at the time inexplicable detour, the boy showed up at Giulia's house at 5.30 pm and together by car they reached the Marghera shopping center to have dinner at McDonald's before the crime.
All disputes that Filippo will have to answer in the interrogation, which will not take place before Monday , also to allow the defense to access the documents that have not yet been notified and to study them.
Tomorrow, Saturday 25 November, Turetta will arrive in Venice and will be immediately taken to prison: he will be found in a single cell and will be monitored 24 hours a day , to avoid self-harming gestures, as expected for prisoners in similar cases.
In the meantime , the first missing person report made by Gino Cecchettin, Giulia's father, was also made public: "I fear for my daughter's safety," the man told the police. Reporting that her daughter "had always communicated her every move when she was away from home", Cecchettin added that "even her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta did not return home, so time for my daughter's safety" .
