A forty-year-old doctor from Turin was arrested by police on charges of producing child pornography and possessing a large archive of illegal material downloaded from the internet.

The precautionary custody order, issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Turin Court, comes at the end of an investigation lasting over two years and conducted by the National Center for the Fight against Online Child Pornography (CNCPO) of the Postal Police, in collaboration with the Turin Cybersecurity Operations Center.

According to what has emerged, the man had been active for at least twelve years within paedophile communities on the dark web, exploiting the supposed protection of anonymity guaranteed by the TOR protocol .

Investigators, engaged in undercover operations, were able to trace his identity based on the pseudonyms he used online, ultimately obtaining a search warrant that led to the seizure of his computer devices.

Analysis of the seized files revealed not only a vast collection of child pornography, but also incidents of content production through chats with minors, some of whom were later reportedly met in person.

In his free time, the doctor frequented sports clubs in close contact with teenagers, a circumstance which – according to investigators – would have favored new contacts and illicit exchanges.

The investigations also revealed a link with a priest from the province of Brescia, arrested last May , with whom the man was planning the creation of an “exclusively Italian” child pornography group to recruit other individuals dedicated to the production of new content.
