«Milan Malpensa airport is officially named after Silvio Berlusconi».
The Ministry of Transport made this known, explaining that the decision, following an order from ENAC, has "immediate effect".
«The Milan Malpensa airport, dedicated to the memory of President Silvio Berlusconi, will have the following name: Milan Malpensa International Airport - Silvio Berlusconi. The management company Sea will take care of the relevant obligations related to the new name", says the MIT.
The deputy prime minister and minister Matteo Salvini expressed "great satisfaction" with the news, while the opposition - Pd and M5S in the lead - protested, announcing questions to find out what the process was for such a sudden naming, despite "the procedure foreseen by the law 1188/1927, which requires a period of 10 years from the death of the person before naming a public place".
