The League has targeted Catania judge Iolanda Apostolico , who in recent days annulled the detention of four migrants in the Pozzallo CPR, defining as illegitimate the Government's rule which asks migrants to pay a deposit of 5 thousand euros to avoid the centers of Permanence for Repatriation.

This time the toga was thrown into the storm by a video published by Salvini on X: «25 August 2018, Catania, I was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. The far left demonstrates to demand the disembarkation of immigrants from the Diciotti ship: the crowd shouts "murderers" and "animals" in the faces of the police. I seem to see some familiar faces ", writes the minister, referring to the magistrate, who appears in the video between the police cordon and the demonstrators.

In the video there is also Apostolico's companion, «publicly aligned against the League and on the side of the demonstrators», reports the Carroccio.

Salvini expresses "dismay", Apostolico provides some colleagues with the reconstruction: she was among the police forces and the demonstrators, "mostly Catholics and to a lesser extent exponents of the left", to avoid contact between the two parties after there had been a first clash .

"She should be disbarred", thunders Northern League deputy secretary Andrea Crippa, who in recent days has already made a gaffe against Germany which "uses migrants like Hitler used the army to destabilize us".

Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi also intervenes: «If someone now complains about being accused of not appearing impartial, perhaps they could have behaved a little differently. Then, as Minister of the Interior, I judge those sentences based on the content of the sentences."

The ANM replies: «The tendency to judge the impartiality of the judge is accentuated, which must be evaluated within the trial, going from the criticism of the provision, which is legitimate, to the screening of the person, that is, seeing who the judge is rather than looking at what he has written. I am worried about the slope we are taking," says president Giuseppe Santalucia.

The CSM is still divided on the case. The judges' measures can be criticized, but " shifting attention to the life of the magistrate and his possible activities external to the judicial one is a way to avoid the discussion on the merits of the measure and an attempt to delegitimize the judicial activity", warns councilor Roberto Fontana, one of the promoters of the practice to protect Apostolico. On the opposite front is the layman of FI Enrico Aimi, president of the Commission who will have to express his opinion on that practice: the judges, he warns, "must be like Caesar's wife, that is, not only be but also appear impartial".
