The 16-year-old German tourist , resident in Cologne, found two days ago in a forest above San Candido , in Alto Adige, died "probably from exposure ". This is what was established by the autopsy , carried out yesterday morning at the Bolzano hospital, which ruled out the presence of trauma.

The teenager's body was found by rescuers in the woods, near a mountain path at 1450 meters above sea level. According to what has been reconstructed, the girl had left the farm, where she was staying with her parents for a holiday period, to go for a walk. But her fragile body , her clothes that were too light and the winter cold (that morning the temperatures were around -14 degrees) gave her no escape.

The alarm was raised in the morning when the young woman did not return. Before leaving she left a note for her family, explaining that she was going out for a walk in the area and that she would return soon. The search operations were also complicated by the deactivated tracker on his mobile phone, which was found to be dead, probably due to the extreme cold. With the medical go-ahead, the 16-year-old's body will be returned to her family.
